Hmmm....... MIA for the whole week, worked at Shangri-La for 3 day, freakishly exhausting, needed more than 12 hours of sleep to recover @~@
It was a publishing conference organized by WAN-IFRA, called Publish Asia 2010. I was supposed to be employed as an usherer for the event, but ended up doing work that is more for the event crew, registration, packing, ushering, receptionist, runner, award carrier (what ever you call them, don't know the name XP), etc. We had to be there at 7am and leave at round..... 8pm, 11pm and 7pm, hahaha, it fluctuates~~ but basically, we only had around 3-4 hours of sleep each night, had to wake up early and rush to the lrt station, and walk for another 5-10 minutes to the hotel, sad......
The job scope was pretty simple actually, but boring..... On the first day, I had to sit at the reception staring at 4 walls with nothing to do, besides picking up the pen and paper to doodle. The rest of them were working downstairs and I was left upstairs to rot, aikz..... thank goodness the lift was nearby, so I just took it down and look for other stuff to do and come back up to check in intervals. After that, I had to usher the delegates that were going on the plant tour to their bus as well. At first, when they told me "Plant Tour", the first thing that came to my mind was literally "PLANT" tour, and it kept me wondering why would they want to organize a plant tour? Moreover it was quite late, so how are they suppose to look at the plants? It was after that when I saw the title on the name list only did I realise it was a "Publishing Plant Tour" as in "FACTORY" tour, hahahaha!!!
And not forgetting, I had to run like mad on the first day as well, in heels!!!! gosh, I became some runner on that day, up down left right, all of them ended up laughing at me "when you see a girl running far far away arr, in heels some more, then you know who is it di!!" =.= zha dao......
Second day was a lot better, at least everything was moved downstairs so I didn't have to sit isolated again...... Morning was a little hectic, everyone started coming in to register and we had to rush at the registration counter. I was called to wrap presents for the Speakers after awhile, so I don't really know what happened after that, heheh, and, I got first hand at food!! We were wrapping inside the office, the place where they stash all the goodies for the speakers and us organizing crew. So, while I was in there, hehehe *evil grin*. But I didn't have much though, ate a couple of dim sum and continued working, but when I finished wrapping, the food was gone T.T so fast..... many didn't get to eat as well, aikz.....
There wasn't much to do later in the day, just sit around at the registration counter and work as a receptionist. It was until dinner when there was work again. Me and Kim Mei weren't suppose to stay for dinner actually, but they needed extra people. So, yea, we stayed, and of course we'll be getting OT as well. So, for the extra cash, tahan~~~
I worked back stage for dinner, I was suppose to just cue the dancers, but ended up bringing awards out on stage..... and the worst part was, I wasn't even dressed properly for it!! I was wearing the same thing I did on the first day (that was the only black set I have) and didn't bother bringing clothes to change because they told me that I didn't have to help out for the night, and I was wearing flats because my leg was hurting from the previous day, and now they are calling me to go on stage..... and worst of all, people actually recognize me on the next day!! And I'm still wearing the same outfit!!! This is embarrassing....... I should have just brought a change of clothes, aikz......
Third day, the most free day of all....... But the day with the most problems as well :S Not long after the day started, my superior came telling me that some registration list from the first day is missing and asked me to go find it!! Where do you expect me to look from, it's already 2 days ago O.o I just tried my best, looking through the whole room, going through a whole pile of trash paper, and even went asking the banquet staff, but no luck T.T so, we had to go through the whole list of survey forms and name cards to recover the list, aihz...... Then, later in the day, some other problems arose again, but it has nothing to do with me this time.... I don't really know the whole story though, just about some master list not suppose to go out at all, but I can't get someone to tell me the actual situation, so, never mind, I should just let it be.......
I had loads of fun for those 3 days though, my colleagues were awesome!! Really friendly people, and really helpful. We only knew each other for a few days but we were crapping and gossiping like mad X) even our boss was really nice. In a way, it was quite sad for me on the last day, I won't be able to work with them anymore, unless if we (so happen) end up working together again in the future, if not, I don't think I'll be seeing them again..... But, well, there's always facebook =D
Don't know when will I be getting my pay yet *scratch head*
P.S. sadly I don't have any pictures..... I shall go korek facebook and see X)
