What are you? The type that is able to take advices, or the type that is able to give advices, or maybe both? Of course, being able to possess both qualities would be the best option, but how many of us are actually able to own them both entirely?
Most people would prefer to be the one that is able to give advices, as it would portray them as a rather wise individual, knowing what is right or wrong, knowing how to overcome obstacles. Being able to provide solutions to others is indeed a very good quality, as it would help others and you will be known as the one to go to when assistance is needed. Indirectly, you will be well-known among your friends as you are the most helpful one around. But come to think of it, though it is a good quality to assist others, what about yourself?
Merely being able to supply help to others but unable to accept advices is not such a good thing either. It provides you no room for improvements. Others may benefit from your advices but if you yourself are not capable of accepting your own advice, what good is there? As people always say ‘Do as I say, not as I do’, as things are easier said than done, and the adviser himself might not even listen to his own advice. At the end of the day, the people around you will be drastically improving for the better of life, but you will still remain at where you were from the beginning, unable to make any form of changes.
As for those who are able to take in advices, although people may think of you as being childish, immature in mind, for you are unable to think for yourself and come up with solutions, but you are able to accept advices from different sources for your own benefits. It helps you improve yourself mentally and eventually, you will be the one whose improvements could be seen the most.
However, advices do come in two types of forms, which are the good ones and the bad ones. Simply accepting advices without deliberating them is not such a good idea after all. One must know when and where an advice should be applied, for different advices, regardless of good or bad, has its place and time, and not merely accepting and applying everything given to you blindly without a thought.
Most of us do possess both traits, but it is just the matter of which one dominates a larger part of us. If one is able to balance out both these qualities, making them as equals, then one shall have the best of both worlds, holding the ability to not only give but to accept as well, and in the end, that one individual shall triumph over all others in many ways.
